This project, managed by Karen Bryson, saw 10 secondary school children, who entered an essay-writing contest from schools around across Islington travel to The White House (Washington D.C. USA) to meet Michelle Obama (First Lady 2008-2016).
This FREE initiative aimed to bring out the potential for leadership in a group of despondent Croydon Ks4 students. Purposeless Croydon students, found inspiration and hope on this weekly Saturday programme (summer term). All pupils earned an invitation to a networking day of inspirational speakers, meeting captain’s of British industry, at The Aleto Foundation’s, National Leadership Programme for graduates at BT’s headquarters in Central London.
Funded by the (DfE), the scheme, aimed to help children & parents (mainly those on free school meals) to eat more healthily, be more active, stay safe & have greater knowledge of health & nutrition, to tackle childhood obesity. This initiative supported the development of resilience, character & wellbeing in families.
Having run for adecade, this annual international youth exchange programme has connected Danish teenagers (from Koge, in Denmark), with local students. These foreign students spend a week in London, learning English in the morning, and touring London’s most iconic landmarks and places of interest thereafter. Local students secured key employment skills for their CV, whilst earning money, by supporting the programme. These student ambassadors accompanied the foreign students on museum, gallery and library tours. Both setsof students, cross-exchange information about their hobbies, interests and knowledge of each other’s popular culture (literature, music, film and art).
We provide affordable Maths, English and science support for school-aged children and their parents. We aim to support neuro-diverse members for the local community. This includes working with adult dyslexic care-workers, who are working in local nursing homes.
Vjosa Rizaj (trained psychotherapist) offered an opportunity for mothers to partake in FREE group therapy. A programme that was funded by Croydon Commitment. This service was offered to women who were mainly mothers or carers, who needed a space for themselves to gain emotional support.The programme took place in 2020 and involved collaborating with Archbishop Tension school and St Matthew’s Church.
Supplementing the education of Year 1 to Year 11, as well as catch-up classes we offer bespoke 1-2-1 classes, alongside small group 11+ (from Year 3) tutoring, covering, English, maths, verbal and not and non-verbal reasoning. We can also offer indivdiual lessons for any level to boost confidence.
With secondary school-aged pupils, we offer a range of support (1-2-1 to small groups) in preparation for their GCSE and functional skills exams.
We use tried and tested methods to support individuals who may need that extra support.
Teaching 3 evenings a week, we aim to support children from less affluent backgrounds and non-academic families. We offer assistance to help them achieve their full academic potential and ultimately secure places at local selective and private schools.
We offer a virtual day school 4-days a week for children who are not attending mainstream school for a variety of reasons. Taught by qualified teachers our fees are competitive and aim to be affordable for all. Christian beliefs and examples are weaved into most subjects. Children also have the opportunity to lead prayers and affirmations and importantly take in-turns to give a weekly presentation (Bible Study lunchtime club) (KS2), so they can hone their professional workplace skills.
Children learn phonics, grammar, maths and topic (including science, art, history and geography). The teaching hours are 8.30 - 12.30.
Children are taught English and Maths to Year 6 level in preparation for SATs and 11+ exams. Topic subjects covered include: History, Geography, Science, and Arts. The teaching hours are 8.30 -2.30.
